How to install a guardrail net? Fixings and installation
The installation of a Feelnets guardrail net is based on three elements: fasteners, tension and support. Each order is delivered with the net made to the exact dimensions of your project, the fasteners adapted to your type of structure and a complete installation guide. Installation is accessible to two DIY enthusiasts using standard tools.
Wood fasteners
On wooden structures, the nets are attached using horseshoe bridges screwed directly into the uprights or beams. This solution is quick to install, sturdy and can be dismantled without damage – ideal for timber-framed staircases and mezzanines.
Fixings on concrete or steel
On concrete or steel, bridges on plates with stainless steel plugs ensure robust, long-lasting attachment. Tension is then adjusted using the tension rope to keep the net perfectly taut over time.
Voltage and Maintenance
A correctly tensioned guardrail net must not form any folds or hollows – this is the prerequisite for its full protective function. Tension is adjusted using the tension rope supplied with each order. For maintenance, simply rinse with clean water once a year.

What’s the difference between a mesh guardrail and a traditional guardrail?
Guardrail netting replaces or complements conventional wood, metal or glass railings. Installed vertically, it secures high areas while allowing light and vision to pass through. Unlike rigid solutions, it adapts to all configurations – curved staircases, atypical hoppers, wooden or metal structures – and can be installed without any major work.
Does the guardrail net comply with safety standards?
Yes, all our guardrail nets are EN1263-1 certified. The fasteners selected and included in each order are certified and adapted to the load declared by the customer.
Which mesh to choose for a guardrail with children?
30×30 mm mesh is recommended for all projects involving children – staircases, mezzanines, bunk beds. The tighter the mesh, the less likely it is that a small foot or hand will slip through, while still allowing light to pass through.
Can guardrail netting be installed both indoors and outdoors?
Made from high-tenacity, UV-treated polyester, Feelnets balustrade netting is just as suitable for indoor staircases as it is for terraces or balconies exposed to the elements. Fasteners are selected according to the type of support and environment – wood, concrete or steel, indoor or outdoor. Our 48×48 polyamide mesh, although suitable for outdoor use, is less resistant to extreme weather conditions, so we recommend it for indoor use.
What fastenings are needed for a guardrail net?
Fasteners depend on the type of support. On wood, we use horseshoe bridges screwed into the uprights. On concrete or steel, stainless steel anchors are used. Feelnets selects and includes the right fasteners for your configuration in every order – you don’t have to choose them separately.
