How to set up a custom net in an IPN beam?
An IPN beam (with a regular I shape) is simply a steel beam.
It’s really easy to install a mezzanine custom net on an IPN beam. You will need to weld hanging points every 150 mm (every 5,9 inches) on your beam.
You can also drill the beam every 150 mm (every 5,9 inches), but make sure to perfectly sand the edges of the holesto avoid any damage to the rope.
Another way is to weld a metal bar to the beam to pass the lacing rope around it (which limits the fixings to every 150 mm)
Can I fix my custom net on three sides only?
Being on a four-sided space, you must absolutely fix all four sides of your net.
As a matter of fact, without fixings on one of the sides, your net will not be strained and will be useless. You will not be able to step on it and the tension will not be balanced.
Zinc-plated eyebolts of 8x80 millimetres (appr. 0,31 x 3,1 inches) cost less than stainless steel saddles, which offers a great saving when you have to install them all around your net.
You need to pre-drill your support, then screw all the eyebolts which takes time during the set-up.
Every eyebolt can withstand 80 kgs. (176,3 pounds)
The threaded rod is 50 mm long (1,96 inches). You need to drive it inside the wall 60-70 mm deep (up to 2,75 inches deep)
Stainless steel saddles on plates are more expensive but can improve the finish
Feelnets insists that your net should be as close as possible to the fixings to leave the minimum void possible between the edge of the net and the wall.
Stainless steel saddles on plates are sold with or without screws. The screws are 5 x 50mm (0,19 x 1,9 inches) stainless steel torx head.
Can I use eyebolts and saddles on plate?
Both of them are perfectly fit to fix indoors custom house nets or safety railing nets. However, you must be aware that the eyebolt will protrude a few millimetres.
Can I put a net outdoors?
Of course!! All our nets are UV proof, and can be set indoors or outdoors.
You can find our nets all around the world, in luxury hotels, or on the boats of our partners. (il y a un lien vers les partenaires ici)
Net Lacing
Simple or double lacing?
If you have children we advise double lacing.
Children move more than adults, and double lacing diminishes the vibrations they cause. In addition, it is more comfortable for tiny feet. Double lacing is explained in our installation booklet.
If you don’t have children you can chose simple lacing.
Can I use E 8mm lacing (0,31 inch)?
If you choose double lacing, you might want to consider using 8mm lacing, which offers a finer finish.
Can I choose between different colors and thickness?
Feelnets offers black, red, grey and blue, goingfrom 3 to 10 mm thickness (from 0,11 to 0,39 inch)
All our ropes are in polyester.
For horizontal nets, like the house net or the mezzanine net we advise 8 to 10 mm thickness (0,31 to 0,39 inch thickness)
For vertical nets like safety railings, we advise a range of between 4 and 8 mm thickness (0,15 to 0,39 inch thickness).
Guide to choose the right trampoline net for multihulls
Which trampoline net for your multihulls ?
Feelnets is a major global player in the manufacture of trampoline nets for multihulls around the world.
Lagoon, Nautitech, Catana, Fountaine Pajot, HHCatamaran, Ocean Voyager...all the biggest shipyards, Feelnets makes for you quality catamaran nets suitable for all.

Feelnets takes advantage of its partners present on all the oceans to test its products in order to guarantee you a quality product adapted to your needs.
Which material for my catamaran net ?
Feelnets now offers three materials to make your multihull nets.
The Polyester material with 30x30mm or 13x13mm meshes and a 10mm diameter border.
PVC mesh from Serge Ferrari with welded and sewn edges.
Dyneema for regatta boats or other cruising multihulls.
Feelnets will recommend the best material for your boat in case of hesitation.
Nets made of 30x30mm polyester mesh.
Feelnets equips today a large part of the multihulls in the world with 30x30mm white or black polyester mesh.
This material is treated against UV rays, it is knotless to offer maximum comfort and the mesh is wide enough not to change the behaviour of your boat in the event of rough seas. It offers a good compromise between safety and comfort.
The edge of the net, also known as the headline, is a 10mm tension rope that is fixed all around the net, giving it its shape. At the time of installation, you will have to pass your rope between the fasteners on the hulls and the luff tape to tension your net.
All our nets for multihulls have a resistance of 200kg/m².
Before installing the new net, it is imperative to let it soak for 24 hours in water and then install it wet. As it dries, the trampoline will set up.
Nets made of 13x13mm polyester mesh.
The 13x13mm mesh is also made of knotless polyester and is available in black or white.
With a tighter mesh, this material offers more comfort, you will enjoy relaxing or moving around on your trampoline. Feelnets equips many yacht charter companies in the world like Dream Yacht Charter number one in the world for boat rental or shipyards like HH Catamaran with this mesh.
The resistance of the mesh of this material is 200kg/m².
Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Nautitech and other large shipyards also use this material to equip their catamarans.
As for the 30x30mm mesh, the net must be left in the water for 24 hours and installed soaked.
It will take its shape as it dries.
Manufacture of trampolines in PVC Mesh from Serge Ferrari.
Material PVC 492 or 392 from Serge Ferrari, extremely resistant 450kg/m², the finishes are welded and sewn.
We make trampolines with this material for private individuals and large units such as Océan Voyager, Tahiti 75, Tahiti 80, Sunreefs, Nautitech 82 and other multihulls.
This material is perfectly adapted to resist in time.
Feelnets offers welded and sewn edges.
Depending on the size of the trampolines, we offer a finish with an eyelet or with a sheath to pass rushes through. Feelnets recommends sheaths for longer lengths, you will obtain greater resistance over time and a better distribution of tension over the entire surface.
Making Dyneema nets
Feelnets makes your Dyneema netting to measure from your drawings.
It is mainly used for multihull racing boats, but many boaters and boatyards prefer this material.
Much more expensive than polyester but stronger and lighter, Dyneema is the perfect material to lighten the boat.
It is available with or without knots and in white.
Net with a 6, 8 or 10 mm diameter rope.
The dyneema 4 or 6 mm diameter tension rope is also available with Feelnets.
Our nets equip today many racing multihulls such as the Maserati MOD70 skippered by Giovanni Soldini.
To fix your net, use 4 or 6mm diameter rope.
Feelnets offers rope in several colors. On your quotation, the number of meters needed for lacing is indicated by default according to the model of your boat or the dimensions sent.
For fixing, several methods work.
Point by point fixing :
Share the rope in as many fixing points as possible on your boat. Attach the net at each fixing point using each pre-cut rope. Finish with half keys.
The lacing fastening :
Tie a knot in a corner and start lacing the rope once around the luff tape of the net (trampoline edge) and once on the boat hook and so on all around. The tensioning will be done by itself.
Why choose Feelnets quality

In which framework can we install a custom-made net for Housing?
The indoor net must be installed in a solid frame. The custom net cannot be fixed to plasterboard or other non-resistant walls.
Here are the different possible scenarios; you will surely find your configuration in the examples below.
Installing the Net in a Wooden Frame

You need to verify that your beams are at least 80mm thick.
In this case, place the fixings all around the perimeter every 150mm.
Fixings proposed by Feelnets, the 8*80mm eye bolts or the cleats on a plate with 50mm screws.
Be sure to take the edge-to-edge dimensions of the void. If you don't have a perfect rectangle, you'll need to provide us with the interior diagonals for the net construction.
Installing the Mezzanine Net in Concrete Walls.
You can install a net in concrete walls, you can use the fixings proposed by Feelnets such as the 8*80mm eye bolts with suitable concrete anchors.
You will need to drill into the concrete every 150mm to fix the anchors and then screw in the eye bolt.
Installing a Custom Net in I-beams
Installing the catamaran net in a frame with I-beams, you have several options.
- Either you drill clean, well-rounded holes in the I-beam every 150mm so that the tension rope cannot rub and get damaged.
- Or you can weld a metal bar and pass the tension rope around the bar. (This option allows you not to place fixings every 150mm)
- Or you can drill and screw lifting rings with a nut every 150mm.
Installing a Residential Net with a Stove or Chimney Flue Passage
Feelnets manufactures custom nets.
If you need a cutout in the net to pass the flue, simply indicate on your plan the dimensions of the cutout to be made on the net.
To create the cutout around the flue passage, you need to make a frame so that the net can be fixed to this frame.
Indeed, the net must be fixed around the entire perimeter to obtain a good distribution of load and tension.
If you leave an unfixed space in the net, the tension will not be good and the net will not be comfortable.
Installing a Net in Hollow Brick.
It is entirely possible to fix the net in hollow brick, for this you just need to fix the eye bolts with chemical anchoring.
Feelnets does not offer chemical anchoring, but you can find it in all specialized stores.
Installation on Walls with Drywall and Insulation.
Do you have beams or a load-bearing wall behind the drywall?
In this case, you need to make sure that behind the drywall you don't have insulation or fiberglass or anything else.
Be sure you can reach a hard surface behind.
Either the surface is just behind the drywall, in which case you can stay with the 8*80mm eye bolts.
Or you have insulation in addition to the drywall to go through to reach the hard surface, in which case it's preferable to add a beam that will be fixed with lag screws and it's on this new beam (minimum 80mm thick) that you will fix the fixings for the net.
Or you use larger eye bolts like the 12x120mm or even larger if necessary.
Installation between 3 Walls with a Stairway Passage
You have 3 walls and on one side, a staircase that gives access to the mezzanine.
For the installation, you will need to add a beam or a metal bar to complete the frame.
This addition will be made at the staircase level. It is imperative that the net be fixed on all sides to obtain a good distribution of tension over the entire surface.
Installation of Interior Net between Two Windows
Check that you have a beam or load-bearing wall between the two windows.
Indeed, it will be on this wall that you can place fixings every 150mm.
We recommend nets with 30x30mm mesh to maintain light passage.
If you don't have a wall on which to attach the fixings, we advise you to stretch a metal bar between the two parallel walls.
You can pass the tension cord to tension the net around it, and you will therefore not need any fixing on this part.
Net installation on a 3-sided opening
In this case, you need to add a wooden beam to close the opening or fix a metal bar or an I-beam that will close the opening.
Once your frame is done, you just need to apply the fixings on each wall. (Count one fixing every 150mm except on the metal bar.)

How to install a Mezzanine Net in a dwelling
How to install a custom suspended mezzanine net? Can you install a mezzanine net alone in a house? What type of fixings should you use? Feelnets answers all your questions and reviews the essential principles to know before you start installing your custom mezzanine net.

Preamble: the Mezzanine Net
Installing a net in a mezzanine has many advantages and improves your living comfort in the house.
The net allows you to create a new original space in your home, it's a new room to relax, unwind, read a good book or watch a movie. Add some big cushions and a blanket for winter, and you're ready for a moment of relaxation in your suspended net.
If you have children, the net will also be a place for them to live and play daily.
From a decorative point of view, the net also fulfills its role by playing with light and volumes, and bringing a truly original touch to your interior.
Another significant strong point of the net: its price! A custom-made net for mezzanine is very affordable and its price/benefit ratio is very advantageous.
Read our guide: How to choose the right residential net.
Then comes the question of installing the net, and that's precisely the subject of this article: how to install a net on a mezzanine in a house?
Can You Install a Mezzanine Net Alone?
It is entirely possible to install a custom suspended net alone, even if, of course, it's easier with two people.
But know that 96% of Feelnets customers install their net themselves. Why not you?
For this, you need to know how to place aligned fixings all around, every 150mm.
Our fixings are for wood and concrete (you'll need concrete anchors if you need to fix your mezzanine net in concrete).
An installation guide is sent with your package. This shows you step by step:
- how to install the fixings,
- how to center the net in the space to be filled,
- how to tension with the cordage and the knots to secure the net.
You don't need special tools or strength for the installation.
A carpenter, roofer (or other craftsmen) will know very well how to install our custom-made nets.
However, we can put you in touch with our specialists for the installation of your interior net. If you don't want to install your net yourself and you don't have a craftsman, don't hesitate to call on Feelnets' partner installers, available all over France. Ask for your quote.
Can You Install a Residential Net in Drywall?
It is absolutely forbidden to fix a residential net in a horizontal position in drywall.
Not only will the net installation not hold, but your installation will be dangerous.
We recommend hard surfaces such as wood, concrete, I-beams, or others.
Depending on the surface on which you want to hang your net, you will need to use the appropriate fixings.
Feelnets is here to guide you towards the best interior net fixing solutions.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
You can also leave a comment on this article and we will answer you as soon as possible. The answers to your questions will thus benefit others.
How to Fix a Net to an I-beam?
An I-beam (a standard I-profile beam) is simply a steel beam.
It is entirely possible to fix a mezzanine net to an I-beam, you need to weld lifting rings every 150mm on the I-beam for this.
You can also drill holes in the I-beam every 150mm, but be careful to make the holes properly so that the cordage cannot be damaged by rubbing against the metal.
Another method is to weld a metal bar to pass the tension rope around (this option limits the fixings to every 150mm).
Can a Net be Fixed on 3 Sides?
It is imperative that all four sides of your net are fixed if we are dealing with a quadrilateral space.
Indeed, without fixing on one of the sides, your net will have no tension and will not be usable. You will not be able to walk on it and all the tension will recenter.
Which Fixing to Choose? Eye Bolt or Pad Eye on Plate?
All the net fixings offered by Feelnets are suitable for wood and concrete.
The 8*80mm galvanized steel eye bolts are cheaper to buy, which is not negligible when there are many to install around the perimeter.
Pre-drilling and screwing are required for the eye bolts, which also adds time to the installation.
The resistance is 80kg per eye bolt.
The threaded rod is 50mm long, it must be inserted at least 60-70mm.
The stainless steel pad eyes on plate are more expensive because the piece itself is prettier and offers a better finish to your installation.
Indeed, Feelnets works to ensure that your net is tensioned as close as possible to the fixings to leave the least space between the edge of your net and the wall.
The pad eyes on plate are sold with or without screws. The screws are 5*50mm in stainless steel with TORX head. The resistance is 80kg per pad eye.
Can Eye Bolts and Pad Eyes be Used?
Indeed, you can use eye bolts and pad eyes, they are perfectly suitable for fixing interior residential nets or net railings.
However, you should expect the eye bolt to protrude a few millimeters (barely visible to the naked eye).
Can a Net be Installed Outdoors?
Absolutely! All our nets are UV-treated. You can install them both indoors and outdoors.
Today our nets are constantly tested worldwide by our hotel clients, or on the oceans with our boat renters.
Net Lacing
Double Lacing or Single Lacing?
We recommend double lacing if you have children.
Indeed, they are not as calm as adults and the vibrations will be dampened by the double lacing. On the other hand, it's more comfortable for young children and their little feet. The rope passage for double lacing is explained in the installation instructions.
However, if you don't have children, you can stick with single lacing.
Can I Use 8mm Rope?
You can absolutely use 8mm rope, it is actually thinner than the 10mm if you prefer to do a double lacing.
It allows for a finer finish with a thinner rope.
Do You Have Colored Rope and Different Diameters?
Feelnets offers colored rope in black, red, gray and blue in different diameters ranging from 10mm to 3mm.
All our ropes are made of polyester.
For horizontal nets such as residential nets, mezzanine nets, we recommend a diameter of 10mm or 8mm.
For vertical nets used as railings, we recommend 8-6-4mm rope.
How to Choose the Right Living Net
Feelnets, creator of custom nets, presents a guide to help you choose your indoor net, your guardrail, or your outdoor net. Passionate about multihulls and expert in catamaran nets, we have put our know-how at the service of housing, protection with guardrails, and hotels worldwide. Do you want to install a custom net?
Here is a list of questions our customers ask with answers from our specialists so that your project can take shape.
Why a Living Net
What Advantages Does an Indoor Net Offer?
The custom living net, or indoor net will offer you a zen space. An original space, without barriers, suspended above your kitchen, living room, entrance...
There are many spaces where you can install a suspended net to gain an additional room.
Easy to install, it transforms your empty spaces and adds volume, and especially comfort: who hasn't dreamed of having a giant hammock at home?
Pleasant and comfortable, the net will offer you many moments of relaxation and unwinding.
Furnished with a few cushions and a good blanket, it's the perfect place to read or watch a movie.
The soft and flexible material allows light to pass through into your interior.
And then the price! Indeed, you will be surprised by the price and quality of Feelnets products.
Which Mesh to Choose? Braided or Knotted?
The braided mesh is what we offer for living nets, for hotels, chalets, and other horizontal uses.

Indeed, the meshes are connected by braids which makes the material very pleasant to touch for lying down, relaxing, or even walking.
We recommend the knotted mesh for vertical nets. Indeed, the small knots give relief to the guardrail or protection net for swimming pools or terraces.

Is the 30x30mm Polyester Mesh Too Wide for Babies' Feet?
No, it's the ideal size for them and for you parents, suitable for not having to pick up pacifiers and other objects that children might pass through the meshes.

Net Resistance
Can one Jump on a Living Net?
The living net is a suspended net that is fixed with a polyester tension cord placed in lacing between the fixings and the edge of the net (also called boltrope).
This cord is not elastic, so it does not offer a bouncing sensation.
You should not jump on the net, it is in place to provide a space for rest and relaxation in your interior.
Can Several People get on the Net at once?
Yes! You can have several people on the net. This original and atypical space is very resistant, more than 240kg/m².
The indoor mezzanine net is very convivial, it will delight the whole family.
Does the net sag a lot when you're on it?
Feelnets makes custom nets based on your dimensions.
Our nets are made slightly smaller than your dimensions so that you can put it in a flat and very taut position - taut like a string, pardon the expression ;)
Under tension with people on the net, it will sag but very little.
Custom Net Materials
Which Material to Choose for My Living Net?
Feelnets recommends polyester material.
It is with this same material that we now equip the largest boat rental companies and hotels worldwide.
This material, naturally tested by our partners, allows us to guarantee a product of excellent quality.
Unlike other materials, polyester remains pleasant and comfortable over time, it does not become rough.
However, Feelnets also offers polyamide or polypropylene nets on request.
Would You Prefer a 30x30mm or 13x13mm Mesh?
The larger the mesh, the more light passes through; the smaller the mesh, the more comfortable the net.
If you need light to pass through, Feelnets definitely recommends the 30x30mm mesh, which offers both comfort and light transmission.
On the other hand, if you don't have any light or skylights, opt for even more comfort with the 13x13mm mesh.
Both are made of polyester and can be used indoors and outdoors.
The mesh resistance is 200kg per m².

What about Wider Meshes for more Light?
Why choose 30x30mm meshes rather than wider meshes that should let more light through?
Meshes larger than 30x30mm will be thicker to provide comfort. This thickness is more visible from the room below the net and will form a visible false ceiling.

Furthermore, for young children, the mesh won't be very pleasant for them and their little feet, they won't enjoy climbing on the net.
And for you parents, a 30x30mm mesh will prevent you from having to pick up all the objects your child might push through larger meshes.
Do You Have Colored Nets?
Feelnets offers polyester nets with 30x30mm or 13x13mm mesh of quality in white or black.
The tension rope is also available in black or white.
We also offer colored nets on request.

Available Colors
We offer nets in blue, green, red, yellow, gray, sand, however, they are not made of Polyester.
It is preferable to use this type of net for a vertical position, as a safety guardrail.
Colored nets can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Vocabulary
What is the Net's Boltrope?
The net's boltrope is the term used to describe the edge of the net. It consists of a 10mm safety rope. It's around the net's boltrope that you will pass the tension rope in lacing for tensioning.
What is the Tension Rope?
The tension rope is a polyester rope with a diameter of 10mm. Made of multiple strands, it offers no elasticity to obtain a strong tension on your residential net.
The resistance is over 3 tons. Otherwise used as a halyard to hoist boat sails.
